The Syracuse Police Department and Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety took into custody three people suspected to be involved in an attempted robbery on SU’s South Campus, DPS said in a campus-wide email Monday afternoon.
A student in a South Campus apartment on the 500 block of Slocum Drive reported the robbery at about 12:50 p.m., according to an earlier campus-wide email sent just after 1:45 p.m. on Monday. Three individuals were questioned and detained on the scene and later transferred to SPD, according to a second campus-wide email sent just after 3:20 p.m.
The three individuals are not affiliated with SU, DPS said in the email.
A fourth suspect fled on foot to the east, away from campus, according to DPS. The department described the male suspect as wearing an all-black jumpsuit and black hat.
Law enforcement investigated several burglaries on South Campus in September 2018. DPS did not say in the email whether Monday’s robbery report was connected to the September burglaries.
